Hello fellow collectors..

I'm an avid Pro Set Football collector. One of the most elusive cards to me from the two series I'm currently collecting (the 1989 & 1990 sets) is the 772A Dexter Manley Substance Abuse error card. I'm also looking for the the 478C, 480C, and 483C variations from the 1989 Pro Set Football. I also need the 338B Lud Denny Promo, the FACT set and binder, the unreleased Raiders and 49ers Super Bowl XXV sets, the Mike Ditka #52 (Large HOF) letters, among a few other odds and ends. If anyone at all has these cards and is willing to sell them, I will make you very good offers for them (in relation to their Beckett values). Please contact me here or preferably at my appended e-mail address. Thanks for your time and happy collecting.

I checked the white on the knob under 10x magnification with a jeweler's lens, and compared this to the white on other areas of the card, including on the white field on the bottom right, and on the thin white stripes on the top of the card.

From what I could see under magnification the grains on all three areas were identical. Each area also had the same tone of white. If you were given pictures of the three white spots, you couldn't tell which white spot came from which white part of the card.

This indicates to me that the whiteout on the knob was applied on a negative of the card prior to printing, and thus the card is authentic. However, I've heard that actual globs of whiteout were used.

Any comments?

Billy Ripken actually wrote the F-Face on his own bat and posed for a picture. In the article, Billy had a point and said that no proofreaders could have caught on? He also said that the writing was much clearer on the card than the bat, and they could have touched up on it a little and make some fireworks in the set. Or, Billy could still be looking for some small excuses for his actions.

[1989 FLEER BILLY RIPKEN INFO] Re: The actual bat...is there one out there???

Pre-Congrats on your 1st WO !!

I doubt the bat has ever went to auction. I have almost reached the edges of the internet looking for info on this card,:) and have not heard anything. If it was to go to auction, people would have talked about it.

I'd love to see the bat. Bill has said he's unsure where it is.

I know that some teams sell the practice bats.

Possibly donate to local school teams ?

I imagine if someone saw it, before the card was released, trashed it,did one of the above or used it until it broke. I'm sure once the card hit, if someone had it, they would have said so. But you never know. Maybe Bill's last words will be..email BillRipken.com..*cough*...*cough*..I have something for them....

One could only dream.

If it does exist, I hope I dont see it as get cut up into 1000 bat cards. ugh.
